Erected by land that was donated by the Monteith family, this original wood-frame building served the College from 1867 until the move to the "Monteith Campus" in 1925. The architecture of the building reflected the vernacular of the Oregon frontier: Italianate brackets, a cupola with Gothic window, and Greek revival pilasters.
