From
"Sweet Home: In the Oregon Cascades" by M. Carey & P. Hainline:
"The smallest of the cemeteries protected by the Sweet Home Cemetery
Maintenance District is the old Thompson/Fir Grove Cemetery on Whiskey Butte
Road. When surveyed in 1967 by Mrs. Helen Haskin and Mrs. Carla Healy the
cemetery was completely uncared for, with trees growing thickly among the
tombstones. Five marked graves were found with signs of another, sunken grave,
while several had been moved to other cemeteries. Names on the tombstones are William
H. Thompson, 1814-1901; Elizabeth A. Thompson, 1821-1902; Louis
Steingrandt, died 1910; Mabel Bacus, died 1940; and Gladys,
1900-1905, 'Budded on earth to bloom in heaven.' The cemetery is now preserved
in a natural state."
