This is the second Masonic cemetery to
be located in Albany -- the first is in west Albany, on Riverside Drive.
This cemetery was formed when trustees of the Jewish Cemetery turned over the
property to the lodge at no charge except the obligation to maintain the graves
already there. The two cemeteries were known as "St. Johns Cemetery",
after the name of the lodge, until the 1950s, when the name was changed to
Waverly Memorial Park, taking the name from Waverly Lake across the road.
The two cemeteries are separated by a driveway and are platted separately, plats
1 and 2. Plat 1 contains the Jewish Cemetery,
with the exception of 6 lots which are designated as part of Waverly (Masonic)
plat 2.
