From
"Centennial History 1885-1985: Our Lady of Lourdes - Jordan, Oregon",
1985:
"In 1902, when the church was built on the top of the hill, a new cemetery
was started near the church. The families that sponsored the building of the
church used the new cemetery. Later families that moved into the parish
continued this custom. The Jordan Catholic cemetery, as it is called today, has
graves from the early 1900's with names such as Schneider, Rohwein, Salzl,
Jungwirth, and Schmid. The clergy also chose to use the Jordan Catholic cemetery
as there are graves of a Trappist Brother Ligouri, the Salvatorian priests
Reverend E. Goerlich and Ludger Gloeggler, and Salvatorian Brother Martialis.
"Since Saint Bernard's parish in Scio and Saint Patrick's in Lyons do not
have cemeteries, they sometimes use the Jordan Catholic cemetery."
